I've always been fascinated by how a house works—or how it could work better.
I'm Celina, the founder of VanIsle Home Planning, based in the Cowichan Valley. I help homeowners turn the way they want to live into homes that actually support it.
My fascination with homes goes back as far as I can remember. Long before I understood floor plans, I picked up on the way a house felt—how some spaces seemed to work naturally while others didn't. That instinct eventually grew into studying floor plans, rethinking existing spaces and helping others shape their ideas. Over the years, I've designed houses from the ground up, but seeing a project all the way through construction—and watching ideas on paper become a home—has been one of the most satisfying experiences of all. I've learned how countless small decisions can determine whether the finished home remains true to the original vision.
I believe a successful home begins with the people who will live there. Before drawing walls, I want to understand their routines, priorities, frustrations and hopes for the future. The floor plan grows from there.
From passion to practice
For years, home planning was something I did simply because I loved it. I drew houses from scratch, reworked existing floor plans, and found myself being asked by family and friends to look at their homes and help solve the things that weren't quite working.
What I came to realize was that the part I loved most wasn't simply drawing a floor plan. It was listening to how someone wanted to live, identifying the things that mattered to them, and finding a way to translate all of that into space.
VanIsle Home Planning grew from that realization. It gives me the opportunity to do what I've been drawn to for years: help people think through their homes before decisions become expensive or difficult to change—and make sure the home taking shape still reflects the vision that started it.
Keeping the vision at the heart of it
Good home planning is about more than creating a floor plan that works on paper. It's about understanding why certain things matter, asking the right questions, and noticing the details that can easily be overlooked.
My role is to help turn your ideas into a clear, cohesive plan—and to keep that original vision in sight as the details develop. When new possibilities arise or practical realities require a change, we can return to what mattered from the beginning and make decisions from there.
I want you to feel listened to, understood and confident in the direction your home is taking. Because when the countless individual decisions all point back to the same vision, the finished home feels intentional—and, more importantly, it feels like yours.
